Getting started


I've got the rough skeleton of the game done. Now it's time to start the fleshing out process. I'm going to be adding tutorials to the starter dungeon and work on the outer town area of the stronghold. Progression is going to be quest based. You need to finish quests in various dungeons to progress to new areas with new quests. The eventual goal is to reach the citadel of the keep, a place long lost to history.

Some of the dungeons will be feature procedural generation of the layouts with manual placement of hostile mobs. The various town areas of the Stronghold will be placed out by hand. I am currently using sprites and tile sets bought from the unity asset store but, I plan on creating and including more of my own tiles as I gain skill and confidence in making them.


The hardest part of game creation is creating a coherent story that fits the world. Fortunately there are tools to help with this and I am going to be using Milanote so that I can organize story notes for each section and even sketch out concepts for the parts of the game that I'll be laying out by hand.

So far, it's daunting but I am confident that I will actually release something since I have gotten further than I have before on projects.
